Walnut's Golden Birthday

Walnut turned 5 this past weekend. He was so excited to celebrate is Golden Birthday with all his family, cousins, Grandparents, and Godparents. Thank you to all that were celebrating in his honor on Saturday (even if you couldn't physically be present). Also, thank you to all the FaceBook birthday wishes! Walnut felt so Loved by everyone.

We started celebrating the big day on Friday. Last year, Mr. Lugnut started taking each of our nuts out to a Birthday Breakfast during the week of their birthday. Now, this year it was my turn to continue the tradition. Walnut requested a local joint in town called "Suzie's Kitchen" due to the amazing time Almond had there last year on her special date with Mr. Lugnut. This was our first dining experience there and it won't be our last. Walnut and I had a delicious breakfast together. He was so antsy and shy being in a new place. He ordered pancakes and bacon and a BIG apple juice. Juice is his favorite! Since, it was a very special occasion I didn't mind that he drank his breakfast. He did finish his bacon but only ate 1/2 of his kid size mouse ear pancake. He was a very polite little man. It so fun to see how much he has 'grown' up these past 5 years! He was so excited to leave and tell his sisters all about his JUICE!

Saturday was Walnut's Birthday and Birthday party day. It was like most of our birthday parties, filled with love, fun, laughter, and lots of sugar! All of the kids (and big grownup kids) had a blast playing, eating, chatting, opening presents, and watching a movie. It is so fun to see all the other nuts in our family running around like nuts. Everyone seemed to have a good-ole-time. For dinner, we ate Mr. Lugnut's famous "red HOT" chili and most of the kids had waffles per Walnut's request. After Walnut opened his gifts, we sang to him and ate lots of yummy Iron Man cake. Side note: I think drawing the Iron Man on the cake was the hardest character I've drawn yet for a birthday cake so far. He kind of looks scary!? All in all, Walnut's birthday was Golden! Just like he is.

Peanut's Accomplishments

This post is going to be dedicated to our youngest nut, Peanut. She is growing up into a little lady! As of yesterday, she turned 8 months old. In the past 2 months she has gone from scouting on her belly, to the normal crawl, to sitting without help, to pulling herself up to stand against objects, and even trying to climb up the stairs. When she visited her Doctor in December for her 6 month well check, our Doctor was AMAZED and ASTONISHED to hear that she was already crawling and standing. I guess she is a little ahead of the norm.

These past couple of weeks she has tried new foods (besides the "Gerber" baby stuff). The other day she tried pizza crust and a carrot (the carrot didn't go very well). Today, I gave her a graham cracker and she LOVED it. I really enjoyed watching her chomp and slime it "down the hatch." Peanut made the most adorable smiles, squeals, and hand claps. She was so very proud of her accomplishment and so was I! It is so nice to see her change. Boy, does this time go fast. By June she'll be a year and I'm predicting that she will be running (I'll let you know if my prediction comes true)!!
