Potty talk

During dinner Almond says "Um, Daddy? My body isn't being so polite. May I, please, go to the bathroom?" as she wiggles in her chair. This is said 10 minutes after she had asked earlier, but was told to finish eating the vegetables on her plate first.

Mr. Lugnut asked to hear her question a second time and excused her. I had to laugh!!

One Dead Oven

Well, Mr. Lugnut has earned his name again! While he was preparing dinner this evening for our little nuts, our oven decided to die. Only minutes after Mr. Lugnut threw in the leftover pizza, the oven decided to "pop." Then, heard Mr. Lugnut say "What was that?" I was downstairs folding Peanut's huge basket of laundry when this occurred. I repeated exactly what he said as I grabbed Peanut and ran upstairs to check it out. The oven door was wide open and the electric heating element was glowing like a sparkler. The spark was slowly moving its way around the coil. At this point, Mr. Lugnut had already turned off the oven; however, the spark continued to glow as it moved, throwing small sporadic flickers. Butternut was in awe with this very intriguing sight. Of course, I was holding him back from the oven. I asked him "What can you do?" His response was he wasn't sure and that he needed to think. I was bugging him by asking him so I went to work on preparing food. Mr. Lugnut worked diligently on this new project, as I finished preparing dinner. It wasn't long after the 4 little nuts were busily eating their pizza and the littlest nut, Peanut, was eating her rice and applesauce, when Mr. Lugnut joined us at the table for our dinner prayers. I was so proud of his accomplishment and I could tell he was, too. After dinner, he called an appliance store to order a new heating element. They had one in stock so we could pick it up later this week. Phew, luckily we didn't need to fork out money for a whole new stove/oven.

The honorable Mr. Lugnut firmly holds on to his title (no surprise, here.) I was amazed at how he "worked" at this project. He was able to unscrew bolts, pull out the oven, remove the back side panel, and tackle the mess of nuts and bolts without complaining one bit nor needing help from myself or someone else of "appliance experience." I have always known he is truly intelligent, but this project proved it even more. From my perspective, Mr. Lugnut seemed to have solved this puzzle so easily. "Honey" you are AMAZING at what you can do even if you don't think so.

A fresh and nutty start to 2011

I have finally started a Blog. To all those blogger accounts I have been reading, I salute you and your hard-work. I honestly never, EVER thought I'd actually want to start writing my own blog. It just never interested me to share my thoughts to the world. You may be asking, "why now." Hm, good question. First, I think it will help inspire my scrap-booking hobby. With 5 beautiful little nuts in our family, I hardly have time jot down a simple note on the calendar to remind myself of the date a first tooth appears or falls out of their mouth, let alone schedule a doctor appointment. So, I am (positively) hoping that this blogging stuff will help me put a firm grasp on more of our memorable moments during our crazy days of life in our house full of little nuts.

Let me introduce to you our house of nuts. Our little nuts in chronological order are as follows; Hazelnut, Almond, Walnut, Butternut, and Peanut. My lovely hubby will be referred to as Mr. Lugnut. I, myself, can be called Mrs. Macadamia. Our current status of a typical day starts at 7:30 when all five little nuts gather around the kitchen table for breakfast. After, they are all cleaned up and ready for the day Hazelnut (2nd grade) and Almond (Kindergarten) start school work with me. A couple times a week, I send Walnut off to Speech class. He has a blast learning with his preschool buddies. During the school time, I am busily playing with Peanut, Walnut, and trying to keep Butternut out of trouble while teaching subjects to Hazelnut and Almond. Then, I look forward to serving lunch and putting Butternut and Peanut to bed for their naps. The afternoon is full of physical activity for everyone. When the clock strikes 3:30 its time to wake up Mr. Lugnut. This is usually done after I make sure his coffee is a brewing. Everyone is so excited to wake Mr. Lugnut! Sometimes, Butternut goes to wake him as soon as he sees me making his coffee! Then, the evening is filled with love, laughter, yelling for food (ha, ha, just the little nuts that are starving!), dancing, singing, reading stories, and game time. I must say it gets crazy during many minutes of the day; however, I think for the most part I have some awesome little nuts to keep our days busy and me out of trouble! That's it in a nutshell.
